Results Summer 2011
Students and staff at Whitstone School are celebrating the School’s best ever GCSE results. 71% of Year 11 students achieved at least 5 higher passes (A*-C), a tremendous 11% increase on last year’s results.
All performance indicators show significant improvement. Particularly pleasing is the number of students achieving two GCSEs in Science, which has risen dramatically from 48% last year to 87% this year.
The year group’s top achieving student is Ross Bratton, who has bagged 10 grade As and A*s. Amongst the other top achievers are Lucy Chaplin, Georgia Cornwell, Lewis Meaden, Daisy Searle, Charlotte Smith and Keri Ware, who all achieved at least 5 A grades.
Headteacher Gill Rennard said, “Obviously we are absolutely delighted with the results; congratulations to all our students in Year 11 – they have worked extremely hard and have laid firm foundations for the future. Congratulations must also go to the staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure students achieved their full potential. Whitstone School is well on the way to outstanding and these results support our reputation as one of the most rapidly improving schools in Somerset.”
